On August 9, the Sam Holt Band will present Remembering Mikey, a tribute to the late Michael Houser of Widespread Panic, who passed away on August 10th, 2002.
This year marks the 23rd anniversary of Houser's passing.Michael Houser was a founding member of Widespread Panic, and his contributions to the band's music and live shows have left an indelible mark on the jam band scene. The Sam Holt Band will pay tribute to Houser's legacy by performing some of his most beloved songs, as well as original music.
Holt had been Michael's guitar tech, but Houser encouraged him to make his own music. Holt, who went on to play with Outformation and the Sam Holt Band, credits Houser with setting him on his way. "I carry that, some of his belief," he said. "He gave me a lot of confidence that I guess was there, but I hadn't found yet."
